Summer Programs 2025


Join us for MDT&S Summer 2025 Dance Programs and Camps!


MDT&S will host Performing Arts Division (PAD) Summer Programs downtown at Hennepin Center for the Arts and Young Children’s Division (YCD) summer camps at the Center for Performing Arts in south Minneapolis. Current MDT&S students as well as students new to the school are welcome to sign up for these summer courses. 


Classes are offered by age and experience for PAD and by age for YCD camps. Course descriptions, as well as dates and locations, are detailed below. 


Students may choose to enroll for one, two, or three weeks of summer courses. A 10% discount will apply for enrolling in all three weeks of the PAD summer program. Class sizes will be limited.


Registration for summer courses and camps will open on January 31st. Deadline to register is May 15, 2025.

  • YCD Summer Camps (Ages 4-7) at Center for Performing Arts

    In these fun-filled weeklong camps, young dancers discover the joy of movement, music, and imagination. Students enhance their coordination, develop fundamental dance skills, and challenge their brain in learning basic choreography! 


    Ballet and Jazz classes daily, themed arts and crafts, stretching and conditioning, storytime and dance media, and more!  An end of week showing for parents and families  give dancers a "performance" opportunity to share all they have learned throughout the week!


    Students can sign up for one or both weeks, half-day or full-day options. (Ages 4-7). Class sizes will be limited, with two instructors.


    Center for Performing Arts:


    Week 1: June 9-13 Mon-Friday, 9:30-12pm (half-day) or 9:30-3pm (full-day)


    Week 2: June 16-20 Mon-Friday, 9:30-12pm (half-day) or 9:30-3pm (full-day)


  • PAD Summer Program (Ages 8-18) at Hennepin Center for the Arts

    The Performing Arts Division (PAD) summer programs are designed to expand upon MDT&S's classical ballet-based curriculum, seamlessly integrating contemporary dance styles, innovative choreography, and classical repertoire. All classes are led by the esteemed MDT faculty and exciting Guest Teachers, with live piano accompaniment enriching most classes.


    All classes  are aimed for dancers who have mastered the fundamentals of ballet technique. Classes will include: ballet technique, pre-pointe, pointe, men's rep,choreography, contemporary technique, jazz, character, conditioning/strength and more.


    Classes are taught by esteemed MDT staff, and internatinationally recognized choreographer, Gemma Bond (ABT and The Royal Ballet), and Katie Deuitch (Ballet Austin), among others. Stay tuned for updates!


    PAD Session Dates: 


    June 9-13, 9:30-4:00pm 

    June 16-20, 9:30-4:00pm 

    June 23-27, 9:30-4:00pm 


    PAD summer program classes are divided into three levels, Level 1 (ages 8-10), Level 2 (ages 10-13) and Level 3 (ages 13-18). Level placement will be determined by age and experience level and is at the discretion of MDT&S staff. Please enroll based on age, and email school@mndance for any questions.


    Full session and week-by-week registration available. 


    Sibling discounts and discounts for three-week enrollment will be automatically applied at registration. A discount code for current MDT&S families will be provided during the registration process and will need to be entered at checkout.


    Class sizes will be limited.

MDT&S Summer Course Registration Additional Information


Registration fee and deposit:

All Summer course registrants will be charged a non-refundable $35 registration fee. A non-refundable commitment deposit of $20 per week is also required upon registration. Balances for YCD camps must be paid in full at the time of registration. Balances for PAD intensives may be paid in full at the time of registration, or payment plan options may be chosen. 


Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable and are subtracted from your total summer intensive fees. Please note, registration takes place online. 


Cancellations: 

If for any reason you need to cancel your registration, you will receive a refund for any fees you have paid not including the registration fee and commitment deposit, provided you cancel at least 15 days prior to the first day of the session for which you are registered. Cancellation requests should be made in writing to school@mndance.org.


No Show:
   
If you are registered for a session and do not attend for any reason and/or do not notify us that you will not be attending at least 15 days prior to the session’s start date, refunds will not be issued.


Class Format:
All MDT&S summer courses will be held in person at downtown studios (PAD summer program) or Center for Performing Arts (YCD summer camp). MDT&S reserves the right to change the location and/or format of these courses in the case of extreme circumstances.


Holidays:   
MDT&S programming will run Monday-Friday all three weeks. Dancers and faculty wishing to formally observe Juneteenth will be excused from classes on Thursday, June 19.
