Summer Classes at MDT/DI

The teen & Adult division classes will remain open through the summer unless otherwise notified.

Advanced/Master Classes with Gloria Govrin

June 16th - 20th, 2008

  • Monday-Friday, 10:00am-noon
  • Get/stay in shape before you head off to the summer program of your choice!

Tuition 1 week: $100.00

 

Performing Arts Division

*Please note:  Performing Arts Division class times still subject to change

Level 2

July 7th – July 25th, 2008 (3 weeks)

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 2:30-4:00pm
  • 1 ½ hours/day* including Technique
  • *Plus Dance History Films once/week with Level 3

Tuition for 3 weeks: $225.00 / 1 week: $100.00

Level 3

July 7th – July 25th, 2008 (3 weeks)

  • Monday- Friday, 12:30pm-4:00pm (includes 1 hour lunch)
  • 2 classes/day* including Technique and Contemporary or Character
  • *Plus Dance History Films once/week with Level 2

Tuition for 3 weeks: $405.00 / 1 week: $135.00

Levels 4, 5, 6, 7/8

June 23rd – July 25th, 2008 (5 weeks)

  • Monday-Friday (times vary by level; see below)
  • 3 classes/day* including Technique, Contemporary, & Dance History Films
  • *Plus Friday Enrichment trips to museums, theaters, etc. for levels 5, 6 and 7/8
  • Level 4: 11:00am-4:00pm (includes 1/2 hour lunch)
  • Level 5: Mon-Thurs 10:00am-5:30pm (includes 1 hour lunch); Fri 9:00-11:00am (enrichment trip)
  • Level 6: Mon-Thurs 9:00am-4:00pm (includes 1 hour lunch); Fri 9:00-11:00am (technique plus enrichment trip)
  • Level 7/8: Mon-Thurs 9:00am-4:00pm (includes 1 hour lunch); Fri 9:00-11:00am (technique plus enrichment trip)

Tuition:

Level 4 for 5 weeks: $1000.00 / 1 week: $250.00

Levels 5, 6, 7/8 for for 5 weeks: $1300.00* / 1 week: $300.00*

August 4 – August 23, 2008 (3 weeks)

  • Classes with Gloria Govrin, renowned teacher and School Director of The Dance Institute, and Lise Houlton, Artistic Director of Minnesota Dance Theatre
  • Nationally known guest teachers (TBA)
  • Admittance by audition only (auditions not required for students currently enrolled MDT/DI)
  • Intermediate through Advanced/Professional Students
  • Ages 12-20
  • Trainees for Minnesota Dance Theatre will be chosen from the Summer Program
  • Beautiful historic studios at Hennepin Center for the Arts in downtown Minneapolis
  • Housing available (Costs TBD)

    • Pas de Deux
    • Pilates
    • Enrichment (Dance history via visits to art museums, etc)

9:00am - 11:00am Technique
11:00am - 12:30pm Pointe or Men’s Batterie
12:30pm - 1:30pm Lunch
1:30pm - 3:00pm Variations, Pas de Deux, Repertory, Contemporary
3:00pm - 4:00pm Pilates/Enrichment (Dance History, Visit Art Museums)

Tuition:

  • $1500 for 3 weeks:  21 classes per week including Enrichment (does not include room & board)
  • $300.00 deposit

Young Children’s Division

Story Ballet Mini-Day Camps

Dates vary; see below

Pre-Dance and Beginning Dance students, ages 4-7, explore movement through imagery, music, and self-expression.  The students will have the opportunity to express their creativity through a variety of dance, music and art activities related to beloved classic stories.  Each session meets for one week and focuses on a different story.

  • Coppelia: June 16 - June 20, 2008
  • Swan Lake: June 23 - June 27, 2008
  • Cinderella: June 30 - July 3, 2008

Class times vary by age

  • Ages 4-5 10:00am-noon
  • Ages 6-7 1:00-3:30pm

Tuition for 1 week: Ages 4-5 $125.00 / Ages 6-7 $150.00

 

Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy Workshop

 July 28 - July 31, 2008

This one-week workshop is open to ages 6 and up*, mice to corps de ballet.  It is a wonderful opportunity to work with Lise Houlton and Abdo Sayegh on choreography from Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy.

Tuition for 1 week: $150

  • Monday-Thursday, 1:30-4:00pm

*For Performing Arts Division students, Nutcracker Workshop is intended as a supplement in addition to regular summer classes.
