Our Mission
Our mission is to foster talent by providing comprehensive
classical and contemporary Training curriculum focused on
the technical and artistic demands of a professional dance
career.
Toward this goal we provide students with
performing opportunities that encourage and further their
skills and talents. Central to our purpose is nurturing, inspiring,
and challenging students to achieve their best.
Our Philosophy
Every child at MDT/DI will receive a quality education in
dance that will allow them to reach their potential, and every
child deserves the best training we can offer. Their dance
education will serve them in future endeavors should they
explore other interests.
At eight years old, a child does not know
whether they will choose dance as a career. Dance chooses
them when they become teenagers. At the beginning, no one
knows who will go on and who will not. It is our job as educators
to give them the tools they will need to succeed whatever
their choices may be later on.
For the student who has the talent and
the desire to seek a professional career, we need to give
the best training available so they can reach their full potential
and afford them the opportunity to compete with other talented
young dancers.
Accomplishment requires hard work. Reaching
one’s potential will teach discipline, responsibility,
teamwork, sacrifice, dedication, correcting mistakes, listening
and time management skills. These are wonderful for every
child to learn.
The respect that a child has for their
teachers and the good manners learned in ballet class are
part of the tradition of ballet.
We are teachers who have chosen to dedicate
our lives to the art form that we love.
Every child is important to us and we believe
that MDT&DI has a responsibility, as the leading school
in Minnesota, to teach all in the dance world what excellence
is and how it can be achieved.
